| "Everthing" on Clear Channel site |
|
Helloooooo!
It's been awhile. Summer in LA has been great. For the past month, I've had friends from Mexico visiting, so it's been a whole lot of fun. And now, for some news...
Clear Channel, the company that owns pretty much all the radio stations in the universe, is now dedicating 40 hours of air time a week to independent artists.
The way it works is they have a website with music by independent artists and the songs that get the most clicks/plays are the ones which are eventually featured on air.
"Everything" was accepted and is now on their site! Whenever you get a moment, please play it play it play it so that it can climb up the charts! Once, twice, a million times a day... hahaha!
Go to the Clear Channel site
Note: Once the page loads, use the "Find" function on your browser and look for "Judith de". (It's a long list and the order changes every day.)
Thank you thank you thank you. :)
Love,
Judith |

| "Sobrecamas" Screening in Monterrey |
|

"Sobrecamas" was screened on May 15th in Monterrey. It was such a cool night! I went to see the film with my parents and my good friend Caty Villarreal.
There's David De la Garza, who wrote and directed the short film (left), and Oliver Cantu, one of the actors.
You can read more details about the film and screening in the Journal page.
Cheers,

| "Everything" Featured on Oasis CD Sampler! |
|

This is awesome. It made my day. "Everything" was picked by Oasis CD (the company that manufactured All of the Above) to be featured on their Pop Sampler CD, which is distributed to radio stations and industry folks.
Here's the cover. Kudos and many thanks to the band and the engineers who helped record this song. Some of the other artists on the sampler are Grammy winners and nominees!

| "High" on American Idol Underground Top 50 |
|

So, it turns out "High" has been on the Pop Top 50 charts for three weeks on American Idol Undeground (the online indie branch of American Idol). I just got an email about it a few minutes ago.
It's currently at #19, which is pretty darn cool. :) You are most welcome to go and place your vote, but I think you have to be a registered member in order for it to count... and honestly, that's a big pain in the ass, so just wish me good luck and we'll call it even. hahaha! (That's terrible self-marketing right there... Bad Judy! Bad Judy! hahahahahahaha! )
Cheers,

My favorite thing about watching videos on YouTube is how incredibly easy it is to share them with friends... especially the funny ones, that way you don't sit there laughing alone feeling like a nutcase. I do that way too often.
I've uploaded some videos to my YouTube profile so you guys can watch them again, send them to your friends n' family, and spread the love!

| International Acoustic Music Awards |
|

"Fairytale" and "Everything" were finalists in the International Acoustic Music Awards. I felt like Leonardo DiCaprio who was nominated for 2 Golden Globes this year... hehe! Oh, how I remember the days when I was absolutely in love with him... along with thousands of other girls. Ladies, can I get a show of hands? ;)
Anyway, the've just posted the results and "Everything" won 1st Place in the Best Female Artist category. I wonder if Leo would date me now. HA!

| A Mexican and a Dane writing songs in English... go figure. |
|

This past weekend was so much fun. My good friend Amalie Riis (from Denmark) is in town and we got together, hung out, drank tons of coffee, watched Red Eye and Law and Order, and wrote a song. :)
Amalie and I met in Ireland at the Listening Room Songwriting Retreat. Even though we were roommates for a week, we didn't get a chance to write together while we were there. I'm glad we finally had the opportunity!
The song is called "Hand in Hand". More details about it soon. Hope everyone's doing great!

If you'd like to listen to a sneak peak of the "All of the Above" CD Release Party, visit my profile on MySpace and listen to Homesick Insomniac live at La Mariachita!
It's cold in LA. I was just about to start complaining when I realized that the guys in the band are on the east coast with snow and all. Suddenly, having to wear a hoodie and sneakers instead of flip-flops doesn't seem like such a bad deal. ;)

| LA Music Awards |
|

My parents and I went to the LA Music Awards tonight! I'm so glad they were able to be there for such a cool experience. I've never been more worried about my hair being in place at all times... ha!
And my feet huuuuurt! I had the not-so-brilliant idea to wear new shoes... They looked great, but now my feet are greatly unhappy.
We had an awesome time watching all sorts of bands perform. From rock to acoustic duets to americana. The highlight of the night was getting to see Maestro Alex Gregory accept an award. He invented the 7-string Stratocaster guitar... and the Heavy Metal Mandolin... and a bunch of other crazy things.
We met up with Folk Singer/Songwriter of the Year Jane Lamb and had the biggest dinner in the world afterwards.
Hugs,
Judith |

I'm getting ready to head back to LA for the LA Music Awards ceremony. They just announced the winners and I won Rock Singer/Songwriter of the Year and Rock Female Vocalist of the Year! So, that's a BIG yeaaaaah!
But I'm dreading the fact that I have to leave home in a few days. So, that's why I'm also feeling a BIG noooooo!!!!
On Nov. 11th I'll be performing in Santa Monica at the UnUrban Cafe with my good friend Jane Lamb, who also won an LA Music Award for Folk Singer/Songwriter of the year! Congratulations Jaaaaane!

| The Fun is Almost Over |
|
So, apparently, I can make it rain... I just can't make it stop. For a moment there, we weren't sure if we were gonna get a chance to play outdoors for the Barrio Antiguo Festival. Thankfully, everything worked out and although there was a light drizzle, we got the job done. An incredibly fun experience, which I'll tell you more about in a journal entry coming soon.
Thank you soooooo much for joining us tonight. I still can't believe some people actually made it out to all 3 shows this week! You're amazing and we love you.
Again, I leave you because I have to sleep a few hours before I drive the band to the airport. I don't want to... Maybe I should just disappear so they miss their flights and have to stay here forever...
Take care and big hug,
Judith

| Must... Sleeeeeeep... |
|
Hey Everyone!
So much has been going on and I can't wait to tell you all about it. There's an insane amount of pictures and videos I want to post but right now, but I gotta get some sleep. We play tomorrow at the Macroplaza (weather permitting!) and it's the band's last day in Monterrey.
All of the Above was on TV today... Featured in a local art/music/culture TV show hosted by Diana Gutierrez. We were all sitting in the kitchen watching and cheering whenever it got mentioned. hahaha!
Hanging out with Alex, Ian, Jack and Matt has been amazing. Got to take them to my favorite restaurant tonight. :) Earlier today we recorded an acoustic version of Hesitation sung by Matt and Ian, and I absolutely love it! Can't wait to upload it so you can hear it.
I could just go on and on... but I really must sleep. All I can tell you is that this whole trip home has been one of the coolest and most rewarding experiences of my life.
More soon. I promise.

| Ireland |
|
I'm moving to Ireland.
That alone should tell you how much I loved this past week. It was insane. It was green. SO GREEN. And full of cows. I love cows.
I really don't know where to start. I met some great people, co-wrote 4 songs, drank Guinness "the right way", tried to learn a traditional Irish dance (that went pretty terribly, but we had a good laugh), and made some really good friends that I can't wait to see again.
More soon. I'll leave you now with this picture I took of the sunset during the ferry ride that took us to the island of Inisheer.

I leave for Ireland in 8 days. I can't wait! Also, the CD Release Party in Mexico is getting pretty close. I've already started working with the guys on adjusting the songs for this particular live setting. We're inviting some musicians from Monterrey to help us out, too. I'm really looking forward to sharing the stage with so many cool people!
More soon.

Hello!
I hope everybody's doing great. There's lots of stuff going on!
I'm off to Nashville today on a songwriting trip. Hopefully, it will be a fun, busy week with many cowriting sessions. If you live in the Nashville area, come hang out at the Bluebird Cafe on Thursday evening! There will be a show featuring all of the writers participating in these sessions.
When I come back, be prepared for many changes in the site... In fact, the whole site has been redone! I can't wait 'til it's up and running! There's going to be a Spanish version, too. :)
PLUS, the release of All of the Above is finally just around the corner. I will announce the exact date soon, as well as pre-sale dates and a few opportunities to get a copy of the CD for FREE!
Stay tuned and stay cool.

| The Recital |
|
Monty, David and I had a fantastic time singing at a guitar recital tonight. Songs like Dust in the Wind and More Than Words, as well as more recent stuff like James Blunt and Bowling for Soup. A few of them were added last minute, so there we were cramming lyrics and melodies as fast as we could.

Guillermo Gutierrez and Hernan Gonzalez playing Knocking on Heaven's Door.

Monty and I sang Tears in Heaven, and we were extremely impressed when Jorge Maldonado (right) nailed every single riff in that song.

Here we are just minutes before witnessing 12 year-old kids play guitar much better than any of us three ever have. It was great.
Except... I really need to practice. |

Hey guys! I know that every time Jane and I play a gig I keep saying it was the best one yet, but this was such a huge night for us. We got to play both Jane's set and mine, the crowd was fantastic, the sound was gorgeous... Megan Slankard, who performed after us, was simply amazing. Thanks to all the folks who made it out!

And now, more good news:
For our gig at Genghis Cohen, Jane Lamb and I get to play back to back sets, so it's gonna be a full hour and fifteen minutes of rocking music, starting at 8pm. Her songs, my songs, many friends, many drinks, good food... Should I keep going? ; ) See you there!

Hey, guys! Lots of good stuff going on. My debut CD, All of the Above, should be ready in time for a May release. Yeaaah! If you can't wait ;) you can buy the mp3's through this site right now (which is managed by an awesome company called Broadjam), just click on the BUY button next to a song and you'll be guided through the process.
I can't thank you enough for all the feedback you've given me regarding the music and site. You really help me do a better job. Thanks to a suggestion recently made by my friend Lisa from the UK, I'll be posting guitar tabs and chord charts in the next few weeks. I'm starting with the song "Everything". If there are any other songs you guys would like to have the music for, please let me know via the email link and I'll get them done.
As always, lots of love. Hope everybody is doing well.

Hey, guys! Hope everybody's doing well. Jane and I have just started rehearsing for our show on Saturday. I can't wait. We're playing at the Pig'N Whistle again and that is such a great room!
I have some good news, Covered in Red received an Honor Award, given by the Great American Song Contest. Sweet! Or as Jack would say, "Sssschhhweeet!" (Do you even say that, Jack? I think you do... I haven't seen you in so long I might be making it up. No, nevermind. You DO say it, I just heard your voice inside my head.)
Lots of love.

What a cool place! The vibe of the room is just perfect. It's definitely worth checking out (preferably when Jane and I are performing... hehe!).

A bunch of things happened while we were playing. The most memorable was dropping my guitar pick while playing "Happy" at the end of the set, which interrupted the entire song. It was hilarious! I guess it had to happen someday.
A million thanks to everybody for coming out to the show...

And for keeping the party going afterwards...

Good times.

Greetings from Mexico! I'm still home, enjoying life and food. I'm getting ready to fly back to LA on the 9th, and I'm looking forward to rehearsing with Jane once again for our next gig, January 14th at the Pig'N Whistle. I don't know why, but I feel the need to cover a cheesy 80's song...
Jane is also lining up some gigs for February, by the way, so stay tuned! I'm working on a few things at the moment. A couple of songs and this other project that's been in the back of my mind for the past few months... It's too soon to tell you everything, but I'm just trying to be mysterious. Is the suspense killing you yet?
More soon, so come back! Best of luck this year, and lots of love.
